Whether you’re wondering about pace, distance, what to wear or how fit you need to be, you’ll find the key details below. Run The City is designed to be relaxed, friendly and accessible, with plenty of stops along the way so you can enjoy York’s history without feeling rushed.
The entire route is 7.5KM (4.7 miles). You won’t be running more than 2KM continuously at anytime, we have plenty of stops to take in the sights and catch your breath.
If you can run 5KM (3.1 miles) in under 45 minutes, you’re more than fit enough to take part
The tour takes around 90 minutes in total, with around half of that time being running and half being stops for pictures & our guide to talk you through what you’re seeing.
Not at all. Our tours are designed to be inclusive and social events. Nobody gets left behind.
We will be running at a 6:00-6:30 minute per KM pace. That’s around 9.40 – 10.20 per mile for our friends across the pond. A gentle trot, rather than an all out effort. No PB’s set here.

We don’t take groups larger than 12. This means we can keep track of everyone on the day and make sure the whole group is enjoying their time with us.
Recommended for runners aged 16 and above. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
No. Whilst we love our furry friends – York is a busy city and we can’t have critters of any sort on the tour.
This is Yorkshire… it rains on occasion. Tours operate in most conditions, so we recommend bringing a waterproof jacket, keep an eye on the weather forecast and we would contact you ahead of the tour if in the rare instance we couldn’t safely go ahead.
No. Unfortunately we don’t have space to store luggage. We suggest using stasher.com to find somewhere nearby.
